Beau, John, and Destiny are an adorable sibling group—two lively, fun brothers and a little sister who love to sit down on a Saturday morning for pancakes and bacon together. They play together inside and out in their foster family home, playing Pokémon games, pretending to be performers on a stage, or wrestling for fun. They love the outdoors, rolling in the leaves in the fall and tossing around snowballs or making snow angels in winter.
Beau is a third grader, taking his place as the oldest brother seriously, helpful and kind, but with a beaming smile that proves he is also pretty silly and funny. He gets along pretty well as an average student in school, taking “mainstream” classes and enjoying math class and recess most of all. He says he is a Steelers football fan, and he likes to run around the yard with a ball, too. He collects Matchbox cars, he likes toy trucks, and he likes to play all kinds of games. He is easy to please at the dinner table—especially on lasagna night. He enjoys helping with family chores in his foster
family, helping put clothes away or helping clean up the toys on the floor or in the yard. He likes to clown around,
imitating TV commercials, pleased with his own “act.” He likes to show off his math and spelling skills. He says the longest word he can spell is “adaptation,” and he spells it perfectly without hesitation. He doesn’t know what it means, though, and doesn’t plan to find out anytime soon!
John, a first grader this year, likes soccer ball and football. He has a favorite hook and ladder fire truck that is his best toy, and he carries it with him proudly. He might like to be a firefighter when he grows up. John likes to take cookie breaks after school, and when asked about his favorite healthy meal, “M and M’s” come immediately to his mind. Asked further about a healthy food choice to grow big and strong, “Chocolate,” would be John’s best idea. He likes to draw pictures, jump around in the leaves, and just have lots of playtime with his big brother and little sister. John has some health issues and doesn’t stay focused on one thing for very long, but he is a very happy-go-lucky little boy who brings fun to a room. When he tries to play “Mother May I?” the rules get bent a bit, but he enjoys his own version.
Destiny attends a special needs nursery school, and she has a realistic baby doll that she cuddles, mothers, and carries all around with its little head on her little shoulder. She rocks it and sings, “Rockabye Baby,” to it, very sweetly. Destiny also likes to snuggle up to look at a picture book with her foster mom. She wears ankle-style leg braces because of a health issue, but seems well adjusted to it. When she takes a tumble on the hardwood floor in her foster home, this spunky little lady gets right up and keeps on playing like nothing happened at all. Destiny was munching a cookie, and thinking her Christmas list, when she decided to ask Santa for a pony with a house, a toy one. She wants food for the horse, too, and thinks her Christmas horse might eat cookies just like she does! Destiny plays games, inside and out, and enjoys Playdough, crafts, playing house and dress-up. Although her physical, mental, and social development, like John’s, is significantly delayed, she is makes hopeful progress in her foster home and at pre-school.
Beau, John, and Destiny are glad that they now have a happy foster family, good practice, hopefully, for a committed adoptive family. Beau thinks they should be adopted together because, “We’d have a lot of people to play with.” He’s pretty practical, but just knows they belong all together. Can you offer Beau, John, and Destiny a family to cheer them on? Do you have the much-needed energy, patience, kindness, and a great sense of humor? This group of three could be a lively addition to your happy, loving home.
