Ashley is an eighth grade girl who enjoys going shopping. For her, fast food is her favorite food. She enjoys listening to rap music, going to church youth activities and choir, and she enjoys all kinds of arts and crafts.
She likes her math class in school—she takes special classes and they are learning multiplication right now. She is learning some Spanish, too, saying, “Se habla espanol.” She also enjoys playing volleyball, shooting baskets and running, and enjoying time with her friends in the cafeteria.Thinking about a family who might adopt her, she says, “I like small families in the city. A mom and a dad, and maybe a big brother or baby sister. Lots to do. And big schools with cute boys!” She dreams of becoming a cheerleader someday.
Ashley had a chance to get her hair and nails done recently for a TV spot, looking for an adoptive family, and she really liked being pampered for a couple of hours. She is a very “girly girl,” enjoying jewelry, pretty clothes, shopping, and all kinds of “beauty shop fun.” However, she doesn’t mention going into the beauty business as a career. She thinks, instead, she would like to become a police officer.
Ashley says she would like to help out a family with some vacuuming and dusting. Outside she enjoys raking leaves. She likes animals, too.
She hopes that her wait for a family will be over soon. She is now ready to join in the fun, the activities, and the feeling of belonging that she has been missing. She has worked hard to prepare for a family, and she’s ready to meet her adoptive parents.
