Trystine

Age: 12

Trystine, (pronounced Tris-tin) is a bright, energetic, and outgoing sixth grade girl. When she gets the chance to play outside, she heads to the swings and slides on the playground. She likes walking in the woods and going swimming. Inside, she enjoys reading, doing art projects and learning new crafts. She gets mostly A’s, and B’s in school, and sometimes a couple of C’s, but she finds that learning something new is kind of easy. Math is her favorite subject, and she’s proud of learning long division this year. Trystine dreams of becoming a doctor or a nurse someday. She says she likes being helpful to people.

Trystine is living in a group facility for girls. She has made friends there pretty quickly and easily, even with unfamiliar surroundings. She and her friend play dolls together. This past Easter the staff had an outdoor egg hunt for the girls, and Trystine enjoyed and appreciated all the fun and the treats. She says she especially liked the M & M’s, in fancy flavors like peanut butter and coconut. She shows off her favorite blanket that she’s kept for a long time; a brown fuzzy blanket with M & M characters pictured on it. She likes to cuddle up with it, and calls it her “blankie.” It is something old, comforting and familiar that Trystine still likes to wrap up in.

She’s in the middle of reading a Little House on the Prairie series book, On the Banks of Plum Creek for a school assignment. The students are making plastic coat hanger mobiles, with cut out pictures and key words from the story as part of their book reports. Trystine really enjoys a creative kind of project like this. She has a great time learning about pioneer families, and how girls, then and now, are alike or sometimes different. She likes to learn about different places, too, imagining, with a big globe, what’s happening in Asia, on the North Pole, in Greece, or in Italy. She’d love to see more of the world and of Ohio. She likes sunny places like Florida, too, but she’s pretty sun sensitive. She needs to be careful not to get sunburned.

Trystine smiles to imagine all kinds of good and happy family fun. She enjoys pets like dogs, as long as they don’t bite. She likes furry hamsters and gerbils, too. If she had an adoptive family, she’d hope to have other kids, either in the family or in the neighborhood, to play with. She would love to do craft projects with an adoptive mom, maybe like the colorful sand art she does now, or some new craft. She likes to cook easy meals like macaroni and cheese or ramen noodles herself, but she’d like to learn to cook healthy meals or sweet treats with a family. She wonders what it would be like to have a nice kindhearted adoptive dad. Would he take the family somewhere fun, play a game, take a walk, or take the family swimming?

Trystine needs an understanding and patient family, so that she can enjoy the rest of her childhood in safe and happy surroundings. She needs the right mixture of stability and fun. She has great potential to turn her life around. Call today and learn more about adopting Trystine. The caring commitment of your loving family might be just what she needs.
