Age: 17
Ashley is a eleventh grade girl who likes to change her hairstyle, reinventing her appearance. She enjoys shopping and socializing with friends. For her, fast foods are her favorite foods- big cheeseburgers, fries, and ice cream. She enjoys tuning the car radio to the rap music station, and when she rides she also sings along. She knows all the words to most of the newest songs. She also likes church youth activities and choir, and doing arts and crafts. She likes to cook and bake, and can make some good homemade cakes and cookies.
Ashley takes specialized classes in a city public school this year. She enjoys city life, and urban activities near her foster home. She says she doesn't miss having the many furry animal pets that may fit in more with country life. Ashley says that if she were adopted, she would like to have a talking bird as a pet, maybe a parrot, parakeet, or cockatiel.
Ashley likes being a girl and paying attention to boys. She likes going out with friends- both boys and girls close to her own age. She used to dream of becoming a police officer, but lately she has been thinking that she'd like to write a novel- the story of her own life so far. She would like to write her own story and get it published to give hope to other kids in foster care.
Ashley thinks that a happy, supportive adoptive home and an open adoption would be the best way to make family life happy for her permanent family, her foster family, and for others still in her life.
Ashley needs the love, commitment and understanding of a permanent stable adoptive family- people who love her and want to keep her safe and well. She will need a responsible, skilled, and warm hearted family to give her guidance, direction, and varied experiences without skipping appropriate fun, exercise, and one-on-one adult time and attention.
