Age: 8
Tony is a bright eyed third grade boy who likes cartoons, animals, and going to the playground to slide and swing. He enjoys throwing a toy football around with his foster dad, and playing "baseball." He can hit a toy ball across the backyard- with great aim and a strong arm- with his big plastic bat. He likes to ride his three wheeler trikes and kids'cars, play video and board games, read stories, and see how things work.
When he saw people using camera equipment around him, he observed how the tripod was assembled, and when it was time, very carefully took it down the same way. He snapped down all the collapsible parts, one by one without being asked or told how, and carefully put the tripod back in the carrying bag and zipped it up again. Tony even offered to carry the camera equipment back to the photographer's car- and did it very proudly and carefully - the mark of a true gentleman!
Tony's foster mom said that he likes to go to the park or playground- his favorite place to play. He enjoys cats and dogs, and loves the idea of having a real horse! He doesn't mind looking at fish, but fish or bugs- if they bite- are not his favorites.
Tony likes LeBron James, his basketball hero, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, all his football heroes. When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he says, "A police. To catch the bad guys!" He takes aim. "Pow, pow!" He can count to about fourteen, and then he counts even further while getting very, very creative. It makes everybody smile. He sings his ABC's perfectly, not as funny, but very well.
Tony likes to eat, and his list of favorite foods goes on and on... and then he pauses to think and adds to it again: "Spaghetti and meatballs... cereal... pancakes... ham sammich... chicken sammich... hamburgers... hot potato chips. They burn your mouth." He demonstrates. It is safe to say that he is pretty easy to please at the dinner table.
Tony is a charming little boy with a big life in front of him. He will need continuing love, stability, and nurturing to develop his interests, talents, and sense of fun. Umar (pronounced Ooo-mar), De'Andre and Tony are three brothers who agree on liking sports, enjoying music, and being together. Sometimes they get along without a care, and sometimes their birth order, or their place in the brotherly scheme of things, shows. Umar is a Browns fan, and De'Andre and Tony root for the Steelers. Umar favors Michael Jackson music, De'Andre strums a guitar and little Tony loves to steal the stage with crazy dancing moves. When it is all said and done, though, people who know the boys the best say that being reunited in the same group facility has proved to be a very good thing.
