laDonna
Age: 17
LaDonna is a good hearted tenth grade girl who values people who are trustworthy, truthful, upfront, and good listeners. She has not always had many people like that in her life, and so she hopes that when the right family decides to adopt her, that their home would be a safe and happy place to live. If the family were religious, that would suit LaDonna fine.
She enjoys pets sometimes, too. LaDonna remembers a mixed breed Husky dog in a foster home where she once lived. That dog was quite stand-offish at first, but it would finally let her "sneak it treats," then, after that, it always slept near her bed protectively. She relates to that kind of loyalty, because she has learned to be a little leery of new people she meets, until she believes that she can really trust them.
LaDonna likes to cook and clean, and is sure that when she grows up that she will work hard to keep her life well organized and on-track. So far her best meal to make for herself is basic Ramen noodles, she says with a laugh, but she is open to learning to make a variety of treats, maybe some good southern specialties or Chinese food. She likes to mix up a glass of cold lemonade and grill a fried baloney sandwich, topped with melted cheese and hot sauce. Just don't pass her any cold or watery powdered eggs or stale toast, please. LaDonna rolls her eyes at the thought.
LaDonna does pretty well in school, making friends, and learning things, and she likes to meet nice people, "who aren't fake or phony," and learning new things. She is living now in a group setting with four levels of behavior goals- level four is the best- and that is where she is aiming. She hopes soon that she could have the freedom to take a walk with friends, go out for a sub sandwich, or go out to the mall or dollar store.
LaDonna might picture herself someday as an effective foster parent, an aide in a pre school, or working day by day with people of any age. She likes being helpful. She likes to wash clothes and keep things picked up and tidy, sometimes without even being asked.
If she had a family that she could trust as much as a certain social worker she knows, that would be amazing. She explains: "She cares about me- when I'm in the right- when I'm in the wrong. She is truthful. She is not judgmental." LaDonna has had many losses and adjustments to make so far, but she is ready for an understanding, warm-hearted adoptive family. She really needs to catch up on the family fun times of everyday living. She needs a safe place to call home, and a family she can talk to, listen to, and count on. Is it possible that the right family is you- or yours? Would you like to call to get a few more details today?
