katie

Age: 15

Katie is a bright, caring and good hearted girl. She is very relaxed and friendly to talk to, a very interesting conversationalist. She is intelligent and earns good grades. She is outgoing and athletic, and often seems mature beyond her years.

Katie expresses a liking for all kinds of people, but especially an admiration for the elderly. She says she likes to hear their stories of World War II, their personal history and tales of their childhoods. She also appreciates and admires free thinking people--who don't decide about an idea or a person until they understand all sides of an issue. Katie says she hopes for parents who are both open hearted and open minded.

Katie smiles and names her favorite things to do-swimming, climbing trees, enjoying all kinds of animals and pets, (in spite of a minor cat allergy), dancing, music, and gymnastics. She demonstrates some fancy flips and back bends, even when she walks down a sidewalk. She might stop to admire a chipmunk, or a pretty leaf or flower, but she never misses a beat in an interesting conversation. Katie seems to be a pro at multi-tasking.

She will be in the ninth grade this year in the group facility where she lives. Katie has made friends there, but wants a future with a family of her own. She is hoping soon to find a mom and dad or a single parent who will treat her with unconditional love.

She likes to be helpful when she is living in a family setting. She likes being in the kitchen on holidays to prepare a turkey or cooking outside on a picnic grill. She imagines chatting about the day while running errands in the car, or watching a little TV-but not a lot of it. Katie would enjoy being outside with a dad for fishing, hunting, sports, or motorcycle hobbies. She thinks about crocheting, cooking, or doing errands with a mom. She likes to cry over TV movies-like sentimental soaps, but sometimes loves rugged camping activities too.

When Katie grows up she'd like to have a career in a helping profession to make the world a little better place. Maybe she'll qualify to go to college and become a marine biologist. Maybe she'd do animal rescues, or try for a "green" career to help save or clean up the environment. She's considering the many possibilities. Katie adds that she is a Christian, but she is flexible when it comes to religion and spirituality.

Katie hopes for a caring family for the guidance, growth, and love that young people need to fully develop their interests, talents, and skills. She is waiting for a good family with a good heart. Is it now the time to end her wait? Could Katie be the right daughter-the one you have been planning for?
