National Adoption Information Clearinghouse

The National Adoption Information Clearinghouse was established by Congress in 1987 to provide free information on all aspects of adoption. The National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information was established in 1974 by the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act to collect, organize, and disseminate information on all aspects of child maltreatment. The Clearinghouses are a service of the Children's Bureau, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
